Over the years, she has successfully represented hundreds of individuals facing complex legal challenges, earning a reputation as a tenacious advocate. She has represented a myriad of clients from professional athletes and musicians to court-appointed adults and juveniles.  She holds a special place in her heart for Latino immigrants and speaks conversational Spanish.  In 2024, Melody was honored with the Business North Carolina 2024 Legal Elite in Criminal Law Award, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the legal field and her unwavering dedication to her clients.  Melody’s professional philosophy involves a holistic approach to client matters, helping clients to heal and find balance, while working towards a resolution of their legal challenges.

Melody is dedicated to honing her expertise and actively contributing to the legal community, particularly through her leadership roles in the Wake County Academy of Criminal Trial Lawyers (WCACTL), where she has served as a board member for over fifteen years, including several years as president of the organization.  Her exceptional contributions to the legal field have also earned her recognition in the Madison Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals.  Admitted to practice before the North Carolina State Courts and the Federal District Court in the Eastern District of North Carolina, Melody is also a member of the North Carolina State Bar, Tenth Judicial District Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, Wake County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.

Outside of her legal career, Melody shares a lifelong passion for barrel racing with her family, including her mother, brother and her daughter. Together, they travel across the United States to compete in events with their horses. When not at competitions, Melody appreciates discovering new restaurants, listening to live international and local music and riding motorcycles with her husband, Ricardo. The two love to travel, preferably anywhere with a surplus of sand and sunshine.  Melody also has a deep love for animals, including her four horses, three dogs, 2 parrots and family of fishes.
